For our hot plate handling requirements, we designed and manufactured a new clamp traverse with a capacity of 21 tonnes, engineered for operation in the demanding temperature and working conditions of metallurgical production.
The pliers are equipped with a hydraulic opening drive with a working range of 1,700 to 3,400 mm. The design has been engineered for reliability, safety and resistance to high temperatures up to 900°C, with no part of the sheet metal being handled being damaged by clamping.
The delivery included a complete hydraulic system with safety features - cylinder locks against pressure drop, overload sensors, oil temperature control and the possibility of emergency mechanical deployment in case of power or hydraulic failure. The traverse has been provided with a thermal cover for the hydraulic and electrical components, while the exposed parts of the structure are protected by a heat-resistant coating.
The tongs are designed to be suspended from the existing small traverse and are fully compatible with the existing crane cab controls, including all safety and signalling features.
The project encompassed a complete design, construction, and manufacturing process – from preliminary design and consultation with the operator, through static and functional calculations, hydraulic and electrical design, to production, assembly, commissioning, and operator training.
